Aegis FactoryLogix expanded to full MES functionality across DataEd’s US and China sites

Data Electronic Devices (DataEd) is a contract electronics manufacturer delivering products from printed board assemblies to complete box build systems into medical, military, aerospace, security and other similarly demanding markets. With manufacturing facilities in the US and China, the company supplies low to medium volume, high-technology products that facilitate their customers’ competitive edge.

DataEd currently has Aegis software installed in both their sites. In their experience, this corporate-wide installation provides the ability to seamlessly transfer products between facilities in real time. The Chinese facility recently upgraded their Aegis installation, and now the New Hampshire site is planning an expansion to the same level of utilization.

In addition to their existing NPI, machine programming and iView modules, the company’s needs include production and quality data tracking during production, process controls and visibility of WIP throughout factory floor operations. They also seek traceability of manufacturing history including quality data, production route, defect/repair loop records and revision approvals. Additionally, charts and real-time data should be standardized.

The WIP and Manufacturing Execution functions will track products through their assembly, test and inspection processes. Product travel will be electronically enforced to ensure the proper routing sequence is followed, including out-of-route steps for activities such as repair, rework, diagnostics and test. Defect collection and repair functions will be performed electronically, facilitated by Aegis’ browser; this portal makes intelligent use of the circuit board CAD images, pictures and content from other Windows applications. Operators will be prompted to check historical data before starting a job.

DataEd will leverage Aegis’ standard chart and report templates and real-time dashboards for analysis and reporting, and to gain visibility to their production facility’s key performance indicators.
