Established in Massachusetts since 1970, Distron Corporation now offers advanced SMT assembly, box-building and electro-mechanical solutions, and supply chain management, backed by a range of quality certifications. The company supplies into the Industrial, Defense, Healthcare, LED/Lighting and Clean Tech industries.
Distron has an existing Aegis installation which in their view brings many benefits; these include providing the power to get manufacturing information into the hands of those who need it. They say that this Aegis capability is what separates the company from their competition. They now plan to add analysis, reporting and visibility capabilities to their current setup.
In their new project, Distron will use Aegis as a data source, to extract and report on total build time figures for a batch by work center or operation.
Distron has been using the NPI components they already own for work instruction development and machine programming. In addition, they are scanning assemblies through production using a combination of hand-held scanners and inForce units to control product movement and collect inspection information. Their Aegis paperless documentation environment also handles repair movements.
